Bill: Reducing Bureaucracy, Keeping Adequate Representation
Details
Submitted by[?]: Freedom Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 2509
Description[?]:
It is our sincere belief that 699 seats in the National Assembly is burdensome on the taxpayers of Rutania and makes it more difficult to work out majority's and calculate two thirds majority requirements. We believe 599 seats would make it easier, requiring 400 seats for a two thirds majority and 300 seats for a simple majority. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The total number of seats in the legislative assembly. Should be between 75 and 750.
Old value:: 699
Current: 650
Proposed: 599

Message | Representatives are not a part of traditional bureaucracy. If we simply cap our own salaries and maintain a modest and reasonable spending plan, additional representatives are not a real burden on the taxpayer. It is our defense budget we should re-examine first. It is TEN TIMES the size of any other single entry on our national budget. |

Message | There is good reason for that, Beluzia to the south and Dundorf to the east. We have had military entanglements with them. As a free market capitalist nation, the main spend is on defence to protect our nation and because the government does not interfere much in other areas. |

Message | Of course defense is necessary, but our current breakdown is out of line with what can be considered reasonable. Naturally our nation must be protected, but the current costs are stifling. |
