Message | How is it impossible to define what is and isnt slander/libel? If someone lies about you to someone else which defames you and your reputation, then it is defamation and should be sorted in a court of law. |
Date | 21:10:25, January 01, 2008 CET | From | Classical Reform Party | To | Debating the The Unlimited Free Speech Act |
Message | Slander/libel is frequently a matter of subtle variations of the truth; impossible to prove either way. Slander/libel laws are impossible to effectively enforce. |
Date | 04:06:24, January 02, 2008 CET | From | Hellenic Imperial Party | To | Debating the The Unlimited Free Speech Act |
Message | You don't enforce Slander/Liber...its a civil dispute. Slanderous people cannot be criminally convicted but they can be sued by the person they make the comments about. Thats the whole point of this law - ability to sue for falsehoods spoken/written. |
Date | 05:05:02, January 02, 2008 CET | From | Classical Reform Party | To | Debating the The Unlimited Free Speech Act |
Message | The government arbitrates the settlement and thus the government enforces the law. This kind of thing is beyond the government's ability to mediate effectively and judicially. |

Random quote: "To the youth of America, I say, beware of being trivialized by the commercial culture that tempts you daily. I hear you saying often that you're not turned on by politics. The lessons of history are clear and portentous. If you do not turn onto politics, politics will turn on you." - Ralph Nader |
