Bill: Anarch Anakrousite Reform Bill - Silver Reform
Details
Submitted by[?]: Commonwealth Workers Army
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2106
Description[?]:
The Anarch Anakrousite Party has been petitioned by our constituents, to broach the subject of retirement. We get the feeling, from our communications, that our 'silver' population is becoming incresingly unhappy, increasingly vocal, and increasingly political, about the current retirement age. Many seem to feel like they are being 'put out to pasture' just as they really hit their stride - and we feel that perhaps the Likatonian government should address the concerns of this swelling demographic. As a tentative step in this direction, the Anarch Anakrousite Party would like to suggest review of the current retirement age policy, with an eye to a proposal to a tentative increase, to show goodwill. It is to be noted that this Bill intends to create 'voluntary' guidelines for the worker, and to offer a stricter guideline for the employer - such that workers are not 'forced' to retire, but are not 'forced' to continue working, either. |

Message | Is the retirement age not voluntary anyhow? |

Message | Response to the CPL. Our understanding is that the current retirement age is INTENDED to be voluntary. However, our constituents consistently complain of discrimination, and a certain amount of 'pressure', once they reach that age. The AAP wishes to see if such pressures 'respond' to a small change in the current retirement age... and, if it responds well - further work can be done in this direction. Whereas, if there is little or no effect, the Bill can be revoked at a later date. |

Message | 65 is a good age, so we are in favour of this bill, but any older and the opposite complaint will become true - people would feel forced to continue working past their natural capacity. Can you add some wording emphasising the voluntary nature of this limit? |

Message | Response to the LPE: The AAP greatfully accepts your contribution - is there any specific wording that the LPE would like to table? The AAP Bill-draft team has created a slightly amended draft... feel free to comment. |

Message | Perhaps 65 could be for public sector employees ie civil servants, council workers. |

Message | Mny of our constituents do work public sector jobs, and it is this core demographic that has been leading this movement towards greater support for the 'silver worker'. The AAP would like to see this option across the employment spectrum, not JUST public employ... although, of course, the civil service will benefit just as any other sector should. |
