From | Judicial Union Party | To | Debating the National Anthem Act | Message | Children should never be made to sing. This is unwarranted coercion by a party that believes children have no human rights. |

From | Rightist Party | To | Debating the National Anthem Act | Message | By that same token then JUP, Children should never be made to go to school. They should never be made to behave. They should never be made to do anything. |

From | Judicial Union Party | To | Debating the National Anthem Act | Message | We make children go to school, because becoming educated is without a doubt the most important thing a child needs. We do this for the same reason we make paying taxes compulsory - because they are justified limitations of personal liberty.
This bill is not a justified limitation. It has no reason so outrageously important to warrant overriding individual liberty. |

From | Rightist Party | To | Debating the National Anthem Act | Message | Then they should be made to sing for it is fostering their education. Music is in the cirriculum after all JUP. So if we do not force them to sing then they will fail the class. |

From | Monacelli Party | To | Debating the National Anthem Act | Message | Ok both of these warring arguments are ridiculous. The current should remain bc they are not forced to sing. Plain and simple. If they wish to, they may. But above all, and more importantly, they are taught to show respect and honor for their nation. They are taught that pride in our country is not reserved for special occasions and tragedies, but rather and integral part of our lives. |

From | Judicial Union Party | To | Debating the National Anthem Act | Message | Music, as an academic subject, is not singing. It is not playing an instrument. Music is studying the theory of music. That theory may or may not be put into practice by the student, that is their prerogative. Music would not be a compulsory subject under any sensible education regime anyway. This is a side issue, however. We agree with the Monacelli Party. |

From | Rightist Party | To | Debating the National Anthem Act | Message | To me, all of the arts (including music and art) should be compulsary subject. |
Date | 01:41:32, January 08, 2008 CET |
From | Judicial Union Party | To | Debating the National Anthem Act | Message | Only language should be compulsory. Arts are for people who are creative. Sciences are for people who are intelligent. Different people need different things. |

From | Monacelli Party | To | Debating the National Anthem Act | Message | Excellent point made there JUP. While classes are not denied, they are neither pushed upon students. It is up to the individual to discover their niche and utilize institutions. oppose still. |

From | Rightist Party | To | Debating the National Anthem Act | Message | JUP, you are a fool. The Arts is what makes life more fulfilling. Languages just helps do business. Everyone recognizes good music but if the arts are not mandatory then how are we to foster creativity in our students. School is about fostering a student's creativity. If you just force them to learn Math, English, History, and Science, school gets boring and students cause trouble. By fostering creativity and listening to the students, school becomes a much better learning place. |
Date | 21:44:41, January 08, 2008 CET |
From | Judicial Union Party | To | Debating the National Anthem Act | Message | School is not about fostering creativity, school is about learning. Learning different things, depending on a person's strengths, but still learning.
Nobody is talking about forcing study in particular areas. Secondary school students shouldn't be forced to learn history, science, maths or anything, further than the basics. Maths is something in particular that tends to be forced upon students far too much. Once you have basic arithmetic, unless you're going to do science or engineering, you don't really need higher maths. History is particularly unnecessary. Science is more important, and is essentially required in today's world. Nevertheless, they should not be forced to. Nor should they be forced to learn arts. Different students need to study different things.
It sounds like you're trying to advocate something similar to a Montessori system, which is probably the worst affront to education in the history of civilisation. |

From | Rightist Party | To | Debating the National Anthem Act | Message | School is not about fostering creativity
Bull fucking shit! My fiance is studying to be an elementary Education teacher and guess what? She agrees with me 100% on this. You are an idiot of the highest proportions who does not even understand how education works nor what creativity does to education. If you did you would not be making this shitty arguments based on something you know absolutely nothing about. |
