MessageThe Protectorate Party Committee of Goverment Reform looked at 375 but decided that even at that number, discpline would be too hard to handle. Especially since under the current system, we would continue to grow back to 750. The Committee thought that with both changes, it would allow only the best and brightest of each party rise to forefront and be better able to serve the nation as a whole.
(ooc:- the number is 646 in the British House of Commons)

Message(ooc- indeed, Americans replace "ise" with "ize" because its easier to understand apparently. Anyone with half a brain can pronnounce realise, correctly. I am afraid that as English was invented by the English, we should have the final say in how things are spelt, even if our population is smaller. )

Message(the Americans have desicrated the English language, not only have they replaced perfectly good letters (i.e. "ize"), they also miss them out. Colour has a "u" in it. As for aluminium, say it how its spelt!! Otherwise we would say zebra instead of dog.... )

Message(Real'ise', the 's' is a soft sound not a harsh 'zz' sound. At least I've always pronounced softly; although that could be a gender thing as opposed to anything else. They also miss out the a in encyclopaedia. I discovered this recently. Aluminium (British pronunciation) is also the correct international pronunciation. Plus it's zed not zee, zed is the correct latinate pronunciation of the letter (see French, that's where we adopted it from).)

MessageWe would support a smaller legislature but our problem is with article two, surely by altering the statistics it gives the smaller provinces a greater voice within Parliament than they would otherwise have. Which although may be a good thing, is it not also slightly unrealistic?

Messagenot in the least bit. This would allow the smaller republics a chance to be heard and provide a greater balance of power as opposed to allowing simply those with the largest population to constantly override the wishes or ideas of the smaller republics.

Messageooc: As an american who travels internationally I feel qualified to say that the british pronunciation is superior... but only when pronounced by a proper gentleman with curled mustache and top hat, gesticulating wildly with his cane. ;)
