Message | This budget seeks to implement much of what was discussed in previous budget talks. This looks like a large budget increase, but that's only because the current budget is so small. This budget begins to bring Aloria's budget to appropriate amounts for a nation of Aloria's size. Increases here reflect budget priorities widely agreed to by most parties. Defence is an absolute priority, and so it gets the largest increase right off the bat. Even at 12 billion ALOs, however, DRs maintain that Aloria's military is still grossly underfunded. Still, we're glad to see progress. We encourage more budget discussion here. If you don't like a line item in the budget, please remember that it can be revised next time the budget is revised. The Ministry of Finance regards Aloria's underfunding as something of a crisis--we could, for example, be attacked any time--and so we hope to get a new budget reflecting last term's revenue enhancements in place now. We can nitpick the details later. --Sojourner Smart, Minister of Finance |
