Bill: Anarch Anakrousite Reform Bill - Adoption Reform
Details
Submitted by[?]: Commonwealth Workers Army
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2108
Description[?]:
The AAP believes that the government should be minimising their interference in such arenas as adoption, where it is possible to replace government intervention, with responsible regulation by private appointed bodies. The AAP strongly recommends that citizens realise this does NOT mean an end to adoption regulation - merely a handover of the paperwork to outside agents. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The government's policy concerning adoption.
Old value:: Adoption is strictly regulated by the government. Only by passing several tests and by following an intensive program applicants can adopt children.
Current: Regulation is used to screen out only those with a previous history of child abuse.
Proposed: Adoption is regulated by private, recognised organisations.

Message | We feel that the government should retain control over adoption, handing over to privite companies may well lead to attempts to make profit over adoption. Surely private companies will have children 'adopted' rapidly, in order to make money, putting the childs future at risk. If possible the private companies must be non-profit, if not then the government must retain control of adoption agencies. |

Message | I think the privatisation of such an important area could prove disasterous. It would be a risk to take with the wellbeing of many of our more vulnerable citizens, for no apparent reasons. What will we gain by this action? |

Message | What we would gain is two fold; first, a smaller government, and second, a more effecient processing of adoptions. Private corporations are by nature more effecient, since they face competitation while the government does not. |

Message | Privatisation can still be regulated - as it says in the original Bill text. If a particular Adoption agency is putting TOO MUCH emphasis on the 'quick fix' and the bottom line, THAT company can be penalised, or their authority revoked. And, what is WRONG with quick adoptions? At the moment, the Likatonian orphanages are OVERFLOWING with unadopted babies and children. SOMETHING needs to be done to speed the process up without risking harm to children. And, if their is ONE thing that motivates innovations like that - it is profit. |
