MessageFor some students, school is just not the right place for them. These students have no intention of attending university and working in an academic environment. These students are ones who would be better off gaining work experience.

Perhaps in a few years working, they will gain respect for education, and will go to a polytech to gain new skills. Alternatively, they may find working practically is what they want to do, and that schools cannot help them. In either case, they will be better off.

Students who do well at school and have intentions of going on to become doctors, lawyers, scientists - they will not leave school just because the age has gone down. They will continue, because it is what they want to do.

MessageWe believe 18 is fine. Where I live, students who are school-tired are able to work a couple of days a week, and follow courses the other days. This way they learn things on the job, how the real world works. It's somewhat like internship, but not quite alike. This part-time education still alows them to get at least a degree.

MessageOOC: Where I am, few people are still at school at 18 anyway. I left school at 16 for university. I think not that long ago, the age to leave was actually 15.

there already is an exclusion contained in the phrase "if educ were required to be compulsory" for farming families, religion custom, etc

if local gov passes an exclusion that would also count

MessageArgh. That part of the sentence refers to the following law, which says nothing about exceptions for farming families or religious customs: Education is compulsory, but home schooling is permitted. The only thing to be decided here is untill what age students are to be educated.

Ask the experimenters why it is morally okay to experiment on animals, and the answer is: "Because the animals are not like us." Animal experimentation rests on a logical contradiction." - Charles R.
