Bill: Nuclear Power Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Novy Smer Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2107
Description[?]:
Nuclear Power is far cleaner than burning fossil fuels and will enable us to fulfill the increasing demand for energy. We do however recognise that it is far from perfect and that is why Aldegar is funding research in to alternatives. In the meantime, however, we should encourage nuclear power as preferable to conventional forms of power generation. |

Debate
These messages have been posted to debate on this bill:
Date | 21:26:36, September 06, 2005 CET | From | Ducal Delegation | To | Debating the Nuclear Power Act |
Message | Government investment in energy research should be focussed on alternative energies, not on nuclear power - which is far from safe or environmentally friendly. |
Date | 00:58:07, September 07, 2005 CET | From | Fenner Brockway Socialist Party | To | Debating the Nuclear Power Act |
Message | Agree with Democratic Alliance. Although nuclear power is generally safe, any accident could be catastrophic. There is also the risk of terrorist attacks against nuclear installations. Further, this bill should not even be considered without a comprehensive plan for disposing safely of nuclear waste. Spend on alternative energies (wind and solar power etc) instead. |
Date | 12:45:38, September 07, 2005 CET | From | Progressive Liberal Party | To | Debating the Nuclear Power Act |
Message | We believe the government should actively encourage the nuclear energy industry until such time as the renewable energy industry can produce 100% of our energy needs. Whilst we have reservations about nuclear safety, we believe the consequences of coal power generation are far riskier. |
Date | 14:38:50, September 07, 2005 CET | From | Sanctaphrax Party | To | Debating the Nuclear Power Act |
Message | One single meltdown could scar entire generations, the risks are far too large. Nuclear power is not an answer. |

Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current. |
Random quote: "The two greatest obstacles to democracy in the United States are, first, the widespread delusion among the poor that we have a democracy, and second, the chronic terror among the rich, lest we get it." - Edward Dowling |
