Bill: Religions don't deserve a special status.

Details

Submitted by[?]: Gil's Green party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2524

Description[?]:

Gil's Green Party believes that religions are no different than other organisations of people with the same ideas. They should be treated like normal organisations, and shouldn't get any special status. At the moment religions don't pay taxes over any profit they generate and they can set up schools without any regulations or whatsoever. This must be stopped for the benefit of our people.

MessageVolunteer organisations pay tax over their profits, just as religions should do. The profit tax for corporations is 0% at the moment anyway.

My point is that religions shouldn't have a special status, their status should be the same as other organisations. Volunteer organisations don't make any profit, so they don't pay taxes. A religion should not make a profit, so no taxes. Article 1 prevents religions from making profit.

MessageWe support this if Article 3 is changed or removed. The point of a religious school is to teach a religion. It would be better to ban religious schools completely than to regulate a religious school like that.

Random fact: When it comes to creating a Cultural Protocol in a Culturally Open nation, players are not necessarily required to provide a plausible backstory for how the nation's cultural background developed. However, the provision of a plausible backstory may be a factor in whether Moderation approves the Cultural Protocol if players in surrounding nations question its appropriateness for their region of the game map.
