Message | We understand the motives of your bill, however we disagree with its means as we do not accept that any of the above legislation changes would provide that which you are attempting to introduce (except article 1) for the reasons outlined below. Article 2 - People are already able to opt out of consenting to the removal of their organs after there death and changing that to an opt in does not increase there liberty (there is little difference for the individual) but could cause substantial problems with the availability of organs for transplant. If someone feels there liberty is being defiled through the removal of their organs then they can already opt out, but what of the liberty of the person who requires the organs? Article 3 - People in this nation do not smoke. Introducing this legislation, whilst seemingly increasing the liberty of an individual to harm themselves actually infringes upon the liberty of others to not be harmed. Moreover, the increased costs to the health care system, both public and private, would increase the costs to all people not just the smokers, so their choice decreases the liberty and choice of others. Article 3 - Gated communities in no way increase the liberty of anyone, rather they serve only one purpose and that is to split communities. Moreover, allowing the private sector only to set up such communities infringes upon the liberties of others within the surrounding communities to enjoy the facilities thusly impaired by those gated communities. Article 5 - Whilst, seemingly, increasing the liberty of adoptive parents this article fails to take into account the effects to the child. To only screen out people with previous cases of child abuse, but not taking into effect socio-economic factors into consideration only increases the risks to the child and so decreasing their "liberty". We hope you will take into account the above reasoning before moving this bill to vote, and would be happy to continue this discussion should you feel the need to question any of the points raised. OOC: We would however request that a more detailed bill description be written in future so that we know the reasoning behind changing policy, and so that there is more to discuss. It is a RP game after all. |
