Bill: CP.0033.2530 Increase Internal Affairs Budget Petition

Details

Submitted by[?]: Conservative Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2531

Description[?]:

"There is a national police department funded by the national government and there are local police departments, funded by local governments."

The national police department is so underfunded that the military is aiding the police force.

We move that the Minister of Finance increase the budget amount of Ministry of Internal Affairs so that the police forces receive proper funding.

The CP suggests increasing from 5 million SEK to 15 million SEK immediately and then gradually increasing over time, but leaves the exact numbering for the Minister of Finance.

MessageWe are opposed do to the fact that we believe 10 billion should be the upper limit for this particular ministry.

OOC:
I think you mean billion, not million.

Message10 Billion for policing is not that much for a country with a population of over 150 million.

After distributing the money to the local police forces, the country should have around 600,000 policemen (using demographics from Sekowo's wiki page) with proper equipment and facilities. Policemen only work 1/3 of a day (8 hours). So, that's equivalent to 0.15 policemen per sq. km. (according the area on Sekowo's wiki page) or 15 policemen per 100 sq. km.

OOC:
That's equivalent to 90 policemen on duty for the entire city of Chicago (600 sq. km).

That means we still have to encourage programs like neighbourhood watch and walking in groups to ensure their own safety and that of their communities.

That's what the situation could be. Imagine what the situation is now with zero funding.

OOC:
DSP, yes, thank you. I meant billion.
As well, I am assuming 1 SEK = 1 USD for estimations. If someone can clarify on a more accurate currency exchange rate, that would be kind.

Random fact: In Culturally Protected nations, special care must be taken to ensure realism is maintained when role-playing a government controlled by an ethnic and/or religious minority. If it is to be supposed that this government is supported by a majority of the population, then this should be plausibly and sufficiently role-played. The burden of proof is on the player or players role-playing such a regime to demonstrate that it is being done realistically
