| Now an olympic event, we also believe that Karting is a good choice for national sport: Karting will teach people driving from a young age, meaning they can be better drivers with more experience when they get in a car. If regulated properly, karting is not dangerous, and is in fact incredibly safe compared to Extreme Ironing. Karting is something original which nobody else has. Motorsport is something that should be encouraged and developed as much as possible, and this will help not only achieve that, but put Aldegar at the fore front of the world at it. |

| Message | We believe any national sport should promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage exercise. Go-Karting is comparatively expensive againts other possible options and requires significant infrastructure. Also, if the karts use fossil fuels could also be harmful for the environment. The PLP will keenly consider alternative proposals. |

| Message | Whilst we are proud of having helped to make Extreme Ironing the National Sport, because of the publicity and enthusiasm for the sport which has been engendered, we believe Go-Karting is a more sustainable long-term option for a National Sport, and that it is right to make the switch now. Extreme Ironing, whilst encouraging many of the qualities Aldegarians are renowned for, is not the most inclusive of sports because it is not everybody's cup of tea. The reputation of Extreme Ironing has also taken a dive lately because of the lurid and disturbing details which have been leaked to the press about former First Minister Frederick Templeton's bizarre, tumultuous and troubling relationship with the coach of the National Extreme Ironing Team. Let Aldegar develop a world-class, world-beating National Go-Karting Team which can go on to win the Olympics! |
