Bill: Cabinet Proposal of May 2533

Details

Submitted by[?]: People's Radical Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2534

Description[?]:

OOC: I'll defend my earlier cabinet proposal, but I also admit that my calculations were terrible. It was early in the morning, so my brain wasn't quite on yet.

IC: As the present cabinet proposal seems doomed to failure, the GPRP proposes the following cabinet. This cabinet, we feel, adequately reflects the changes in the Diet since the last election. The principles are as follows:
1. The cabinet controls a working majority (266 seats) of the 500-seat legislature, and does so with recourse to the smallest number of parties.
2. The cabinet is based around parties with similar ideologies, thus (hopefully) ensuring more legislative success.
3. Parties receive ministries based on the proportion of seats in the "cabinet bloc" they control.
4. The DP heads the cabinet, as it represents the largest of the three blocs within the cabinet.

MessageWhat? What is it with you and these strange proposals? They seem completely randomized and you give no explanation.

MessageAlso OOC: And just to prove that Murphy's Law is alive and kicking, the broader-based cabinet with the AUP included looks like it might get a run after all. Next elections, I'm sticking a post-it note on my screen saying "Calculate first, THEN submit cabinet proposals."

MessageThe GPRP seconds the motion of "Gah!" Our rapporteurs have been subjected to the strongest internal sanctions. One of them was last seen heading off to supervise elections in a 7-person branch somewhere in Kurathia where he'll hopefully be unable to cause any chaos.

MessageWe shall see what happens next election. It seems the AUP is in the unfortunate position of being the only right-wing party in the government. It is one of the few occassions we wish we had the equivalent of the FZL in the govenment just so the balance was more evenly set either side.

MessageWell it seems the Aneists and Radicals have something in common then. However, what th radicals have in common with the Imperialists is beyond us.

MessageOOC: Beats me too, but we've voted the same 80% of the time or more. Clearly one or both of us isn't being objectionable enough, but I daresay it'll change one day.

Random quote: "The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin. When all is orderly, he does not forget that disorder may come. Thus his person is not endangered, and his States and all their clans are preserved." - Confucius
