Message | They pay to send them to school itself, where is the difference? Pre-school is important for children in that it teaches them how to socialise properly and also allows them to learn the basic skills needed to cope in school. Such as starting reading and writing, learning how to sit and concentrate for longish periods of time (even if it is just to listen to a story). All of these are important skills and it is much easier to lift the potential burden and stigmatism upon families that this proposed change to the law would institute; as it stands no family is truly aware of another's social background, this proposal would change that and, not for the better. |

Message | With all due respect to the Honourable member, school is not the only place where children learn how to behave in society. It is just as important for these lessons to be learned in the home, and taught by the parents. By making pre-school mandatory, we are simply providing state-subsidized day care for parents. Our arguement is that, while some working families require this child-care subsidy, a significant portion of Beluzian society (specifically the wealthy) is getting a break while poor families will see a tax increase (to pay for this measure) cut further into there incomes. |
