Bill: Adjusting the Tax Rate
Details
Submitted by[?]: Tuesday Is Coming
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2109
Description[?]:
We now have a surplus of 2,818,734,103 LOD. The 10% tax on luxuries brings in 3,378,311,419 LOD This means that we only need 559,577,316 LOD to be funded through the luxury tax. 559,577,316/3,378,311,419= 16.5638% (of the current 10% luxury tax) This rate should eliminate the surplus and return the money to the people, without causing a deficit. If circumstances change, the rate will be adjusted again. |

Message | (One other question is how a 0% corporate tax manages to bring in 7 billion in revenue...but for now we are taking the data as it appears) |
Date | 23:45:09, September 09, 2005 CET | From | Cooperative Commonwealth Federation | To | Debating the Adjusting the Tax Rate |
Message | The Assembly may soon approve new social spending. We suggest waiting a year before cutting the tax rate, to see if the money is needed for new programmes. |
Date | 00:16:47, September 10, 2005 CET | From | Tuesday Is Coming | To | Debating the Adjusting the Tax Rate |
Message | Until then, can we adjust the rate to a more appropriate number than 10%? Right now it is more than 5 times what is needed. Also, I dont know if Wouter has tied everything together yet. |
Date | 04:16:09, September 10, 2005 CET | From | CNT/AFL | To | Debating the Adjusting the Tax Rate |
Message | Opposed, the CNT/AFL is about to embark on a not so ambitious social investment drive, to restore social services to the quality they were before they were decimated by years of capitalist rule. |
