Message | We really don't know anything about "Vizier". Can you elaborate more on the name? It's history, significance, etc? |

Message | Originally Vizier meant an adviser to the King or Sultan. Later it came to mean the head of the government in Persia (chief minister to the Shah) and some Arabic countries. In effect it means the Prime Minister in a constitutional monarchy, which is what Al'Badara is. The Grand Vizier headed the government of the Ottoman Empire (Turkey), and many Indian princes let a Vizier act as their head of government. It's a good term becuase it sounds unique, and it sfits the constutitional monarchy style of government which we have. Sheikh is an Arabic term meaning revered elder, and it's the traditional leader of a tribe in Arabia. It's used as a term of respect for many different people, not just in government. |
