Bill: CAM Budget proposal of June 2535
Details
Submitted by[?]: Conservative Ordo Malleus (COM)
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2536
Description[?]:
This is a redistribution of existing funds. There is no increase of the national budget. Recent legislation allows us to restructure the budget. Changes to the administration of government supports a reduction in the Head of State and Internal Affairs budget. State owned nuclear power plants supports a slight increase to the Science & Technology and Infrastructure budgets but a reduction in the environmental budget. This small increase will provide for research to find more efficient nuclear fuels and to provide more efficient maintenance of the facilities resulting in longer lifespans. This will produce lower long term costs of using and maintaining the nuclear facilities. The reduction in the Environmental budget comes from nuclear plants being cleaner and more efficient than other energy sources. Time and resources spent to oversee dirty energy, such as coal, can be removed resulting in the savings of 2.5B TPD. The reduction in the Justice budget is predicated on the CAM Judicial Reform bill passing. If that bill passes it is estimated that the government will save at least 1B TPD if not more. Increases in the Food & Agricultural budget stem from promoting national foodstuffs and reliance on them, which will result in less money spent long term. This savings is mostly calculated on the cost saved by not importing foodstuffs from a great distance from other nations. A shift in focus to new technology for industry necessitates a small increase of the Trade & Industry budget. This increase is kept minimal by fewer costs on importing while our export trade remains the same. Overall this redistribution of Telamon's national budget will keep the budget at the level voted in 2525 when the overall budget was reduced through major cuts. Reallocation of funds is a common occurrence in all national governments and this proposal will allow the government to put the funds where they are most needed without increasing the total national budget. |
