Message1. Protection of vulnerable children is vital. While not seeking to delay the process without due cause, adoption has to be undertaken with the interests of the child as paramount. The government has the data on criminal activity to enable a cross-check without the information having to become public. This does not affect the ability of non-governmental organisations to act as Adoption Agencies.

2. Under-age pregnancy is a problem, and as much as the Religious lobby will claim that abstinence is the only way, it is not working. As well as pregnancy, STDs are a growing concern, and combined with education and advice to avoid sex until truly ready, contraception will save lives.

3. This will exclude minors. For those who cannot be expected to make such a decision, a pre-mortem declaration from a notarised Power of Attorney or legal guardian will be accepted as the word of the individual. We are currently suffering a shortage of organ supply, despite a large number being available every day. Lives will be saved, and those who object can register their decision and it will be respected.

MessageNo.
Art 1. We believe that the state has a role to play by informing the public about contraception. The DFM also believes that schools should educate students in sexual matters. We do not believe that the state must subsidize contraceptives. The DFM would support this only as a temporary measurement if there is a medical emergency situation. Till then, it's everyone's own choice and responsibility.

Art.2 The interest of the individual is more important. It's a matter of principle. How does the KPF defines minors ?

Art 3. The current situation is fine. We did not hear anything about objectionable practices of private adoption agencies. They are all recognised and adoption is regulated by the state. So, enough safeguards.

MessageWe defined minors as those under the age of majority. In those cases, parents can give consent if they wish. We are not satisfied that the rights of the dead individual are being held in higher regard than those of the sick individual to receive treatment. The problem with such 'principles' is that they conflict with reality.

MessageIt is disappointing to notice KPF's disrespect for people who believe otherwise. People should have the right to choose not the state. We do not see why this is less realistic.
We do agree that the Government should inform the general public about the organ donations. That might increase the number of donors.

MessageThey WOULD have the right to choose, the difference is just that instead of an 'opt-in' you have to 'opt-out'. The right to choose is retained and enshrined.

Greater information has been tried, and it has a marginal effect. Nowhere near as much as this law would.

Message"..........an 'opt-in' you have to 'opt-out' ", we understand that but just the point, the DFM doesn't want that the state ASSUMES consent ! It's like in court: the prosecutor has to prove someone's guilt. The court does not ASSUME that someone is guilty of a crime on forehand. Hopefully, the KPF discovers some realism is our point of view this time.
