Bill: Religion Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Fair and Equal World Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 2539

Description[?]:

We believe that the government should not play any part, even a ceremonial one, in the arena of religion. An official state religion, even if it isn't mandatory, shows a clear governmental preference for a certain religion over another. This kind of defunct favoritism is absurd in a free nation such as Rutania, and should be replaced with a genuinely libertarian position on religion.

Religion is a matter that should be handled by individuals and the denominations they belong to, not by the government. Bills of this nature have come up in the past, but have been continually thrust aside.

With so many libertarian parties in Rutania, it is a wonder that these bills have not passed.

Random fact: In cases where a party has no seat, the default presumption should be that the party is able to contribute to debates in the legislature due to one of its members winning a seat at a by-election. However, players may collectively improvise arrangements of their own to provide a satisfying explanation for how parties with no seats in the legislature can speak and vote there.
