Message | Blast it all, prison costs the government a lot of money. Physical labour is beneficial to help rehabilitate prisoners, as it gives them a sense of accomplishment. We do not believe that having prisoners work is beneficial to the government financially (except, perhaps prisons could charge for certain services?), but we think its rehabilitative nature makes it valuable. That said, we would much prefer that criminals not be paid while working in prison. |
