Details

Submitted by[?]: Conservative Liberal Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2112

Description[?]:

We propose large tax cuts.

Currently we have a government budget surplus of 34,684,682,768 LIK. We propose using this to abolish the Luxury Tax, which raises 19,012,297,963 LIK. This will still leave the government with a 15,000,000,000 LIK surplus.

MessageWe oppose, and would rather spend the surplus on increased welfare, subsidy for farms, etc. Our industry is not being damaged by these taxes, so we find their present level to be acceptable.

MessageI am in favour of lowering taxes as far as they would go - the government should not have a huge surplus - but in light of recently proposed large spending programmes I think these changes are too dramatic. I would be willing to support a less drastic reduction as long as it did not put us in the red, as I fear this may.

Random fact: By default the head of government is the ultimate authority within a national government. In general terms, heads of government are expected to consult with cabinet colleagues (including those from other parties) before making significant decisions but they remain responsible for government action.

Random quote: "Erotic politicians, that's what we are. We're interested in anything about revolt, disorder, chaos and activity that appears to have no meaning." Jim Morrison
