Bill: Vanuku's Missionary Position Act 2541
Details
Submitted by[?]: Vanuku Sinatranoan Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 2542
Description[?]:
Given these troubled times on Terra, one fact which cannot be ignored is the potential for religion to be a catalyst used to foment civic unrest, as well as provide a guise for foreign intelligence-gathering services. To this end, in line with the current Government's closed-border policy, the Vanuku Sinatranoan Party proposes a Bill whereby representatives of foreign religions, as well as foreign idealogues, must be approved to visit on a case-by-case basis. Whilst it appears reasonable to allow unrestricted access to missionaries of Government-approved religions, this does not prevent the problem of foreign intelligence-gatherers entering under the guise of representatives of approved religions. Thus this proposal will reduce such an event occurring. |

Random quote: "Civil disobedience. . . is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience. Our problem is that numbers of people all over the world have obeyed the dictates of the leaders of their government and have gone to war, and millions have been killed because of this obedience. . Our problem is that people are obedient all over the world in the face of poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war, and cruelty. Our problem is that people are obedient while the jails are full of petty thieves, and all the while the grand thieves are running the country. That's our problem." - Howard Zinn |
