Bill: Foreign trade policy (proposal added)

Details

Submitted by[?]: Cooperative Commonwealth Federation

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2113

Description[?]:

It shall be the policy of Lodamun to seek open borders for both capital and labour.

We will welcome foreign investment insofar as it accords with the laws and interests of the people of Lodamun. It shall be the government's policy to promote free trade wherever possible. Most favoured nation (MFN) status shall be extended to all friendly countries: that is to say, any tariff concession granted ot one country shall be gratned to all other countries with MFN status.

MFN status shall not be awarded, however, to countries deemed by the government to be systemic abusers of human rights. These countries include but are not limited to: countries permitting the slave trade, countries committing genocide, and countries permitting torture. The cabinet may, if it wishes, also withhold MFN status on the grounds of environmental policy, for instance if another state is polluting our waters with their toxic chemicals.

Free trade should not be limited ot the free movement of capital, but will also include the free movement of labour. Workers should be permitted to cross borders freely, in keeping with Lodamun's open immigration policies.

MessageThere is now a proposal on free trade vs. protectionism. Added the value that seems to fit best, which is generally free-trade oriented.
