Bill: Welfare Policy Corrective Bill of 2542
Details
Submitted by[?]: Democratic Rationalists (PrCoa)
Status[?]: passed

Voting deadline: August 2543
Description[?]:
There's a problem with our current welfare and pension policy. Currently, Aloria provides a reasonable safety net to support those who have fallen on hard times. However, the public and private pension systems are voluntary. The result for many people is that reliance on the welfare system for retirement is a more attractive option than saving for retirement. These people therefore don't invest any money toward their own pensions, placing the costs for their retirement wholly on Aloria. This bill corrects that by making the public pension system mandatory. All workers will be required to save for their own retirement, thus defraying the cost to the welfare system for their support. |

Message | No. If people don't want it (IE they're wealthy) then they don't get it, what's the problem with that? It just increases more stress onto the government on something that really doesn't need to be an issue =/ |

Message | Actually, this bill will decrease stress on the government. |

Message | Right now, people who can afford to but don't save for retirement end up collecting welfare when they retire anyway. This bill requires people who can afford to to save for retirement, making it so they won't stress the welfare system later. |

Random fact: When it comes to creating a Cultural Protocol in a Culturally Open nation, players are not necessarily required to provide a plausible backstory for how the nation's cultural background developed. However, the provision of a plausible backstory may be a factor in whether Moderation approves the Cultural Protocol if players in surrounding nations question its appropriateness for their region of the game map. |
