Message | Morality cannot be legislated, by definition. Morality must be voluntarily accepted. I dont know what religious beliefs you hold, but I believe that human beings were given free will, and a freedom to make choices that are harmful to themselves. If God would allow people to mess up their own lives, who are we to prevent it? If he created drugs/narcotics, who can say that he wants the governments of man to outlaw them? "Freedom, morality, and the human dignity of the individual consists precisely in this; that he does good not because he is forced to do so, but because he freely conceives it, wants it, and loves it." – Mikhail Bakunin "Unless a good deed is voluntary, it has no moral significance." – Everett Dean Martin (1880-1941), Political Philosopher "A code of values accepted by choice is a code of morality." --Ayn Rand, http://compuball.com/Inquisition/AynRand/galtspeech_pmark_broken.htm |

Message | I am not particularly religious (as you will have noticed, I do not push very strong religion related bills) but I feel very strongly on the dangerous effects produced by the abuse of dangerous substances. |

Message | I apologize, where I come from most conservatives are motivated by religious beliefs. In any case you believe that morality is a decent goal. My party also uses objective moral laws to determine political positions, to the degree that we believe morality must be accepted by choice to have value. We believe that the most immoral thing someone can do is to infringe upon the rights of another. We feel that government legislated "values" are counter-productive and unjustifiable. |

Message | we could consider supporting some of these measures, but cannot vote for a ban on recreational drug use, man. |
