Details

Submitted by[?]: Conservative Party

Status[?]: defeated

Voting deadline: June 2544

Description[?]:

Separation of church and state is the political and legal idea that government and religion should be separate, and not interfere in each other's affairs. Parties favouring secularism should for vote for this bill as the government does not involve itself in religious organizations. ------------------
Even though religions are not taxed, the organizations must submit an income tax form at 0% for scrutiny by the Ministry of Finance to prevent abuse and exploitation of the law. Organizations that abuse this law will face tax fraud in which the criminal will be taxed the full amount plus interest and criminal charges with up to 5 years for every year found guilty of committing tax fraud.

MessageOOC:
The difference between Scientology and pretty much every religion is that it was openly a fictional entity created to be part of SciFi, yet when Hubbard in his greediness realized he could make money from it (he said it himself that creating a religion was the best way to make money) he decided to declare that it was real.

Message[[But how do you legislate that? That's the problem. Where do you draw the line between a corporation disguised as a religion and a true religion?]]

MessageWe oppose because the bill lacks any language specifying the difference between a religion and a corporation. If it did, we would likely support.
