Bill: Right to Patents (Sept 2109; originally defeated Jan 2093)
Details
Submitted by[?]: Lodamun Centre-Left Coalition
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2110
Description[?]:
The PCL note that it expects this bill to fail, as the original May 2092 bill did, but will nonetheless push for patent reform again. Currently in Lodamun, intellectual property is not protected by copyright or patent. Lodamun's people have the right to keep what is their own; currently our laws seem to suggest that work, be it in technological or scientific advances, et cetera, could be effectively taken away for free, and a claim could even be put in for someone else's hard work. The PCL call for an end to this and call for people to have the right to protect their work. Give the people what they deserve. All patents will be valid for life plus 15 years. |

Message | Strongly opposed, the ability to patent software codes will be like being able to patent mathematical equations, and limited copy protection is suffiicent for the rest. |
Date | 22:18:57, September 12, 2005 CET | From | Tuesday Is Coming | To | Debating the Right to Patents (Sept 2109; originally defeated Jan 2093) |
Message | It should be noted that software codes already in existence, currently unprotected, will not be affected ex post facto by this law. |

Message | The Chorus supports Article 1, but Article 2 is akin to allowing patents on words and sentence forms as well as the novel made of such words. We cannot support the second proposal. |
