MessageRemoving Axis Mundi from the country name.

As democrats, we believe parties are free to be members of the Axis Mundi or any other organisation but an organisation name as such (whether you think positive of that organisation or not), should not be forced on all the citizens of this country.

We are proposing therefore that the name of this nation should no longer be Axis Mundi Likatonian Res Publica but become the Likatonian Res Publica.

Stand by the Republic, vote for this bill!

MessageNot worth discussing it since this is NOT a discussion. If we had talked about it before you put it to the vote, it might have been worth taking seriously. As it is, it's a sham.

MessageSham.

We are saddened that 5 of the current 8 parties would act in such an arbitrary and deceptive manner.

Either you want debate, or you don't. This isn't debate - and supporting this bill suggests some parties would rather push an agenda than engage in actual politics.

MessageAlthough this Bill will pass, the name change requires a 2/3 majority, so will not be enacted as things stand.

MessageWe understand that the name change requires a 2/3 majority but the withdrawl from the AM treaty will be passed.

It's rather rediculous for the nation to be signed up to a treaty that seemingly benefits just 3 out of 8 parties.

MessageIt is even more ridiculous for us to withdraw froma Treaty which is not binding on our national behaviour, EXCEPT in as much as it might deal with how we can deal with other nations with Axis Mundi parties.

Effectively - while currently only Likatonia has been party to this traty, it HAS - in effect - allowed us a means to diplomacy with any nation with Axis Mundi parties - even when other avenues may have been closed.

A back-door to dealing with a nation we are at war with? Withdrawing from this Treaty was inane.

MessageWe cannot see a benefit to withdrawing, nor a detriment to retaining.

Perhaps one of our Convocation partners could enlighten us to the part of the treaty that puts us at risk?

MessageHurray Hurray -

Likatonia has withdrawn from the Axis Mundi Treaty.

The champagne bottles are being cracked open tonight in the Conservative Liberal Party HQ, where there will be toasts to Alan Reynolds, the Conservative Liberal Party, Okhranka, PFL Irish Party, PFL Communist Party Of Likatonia, People's Confederal Army. And to the former parties of the Free Republic, namely the Right Wing Liberals.

MessageWe are frankly disgusted by this action. Especially by what appears to be strong partisan representation by, shall we say, 'friends of the CLP'.

We are especially disgusted by this as evidence of the depths the CLP will sink to - selling an issue in this manner... buying votes for their treaty withdrawal by prostituting themselves on the name issue.

Random fact: Moderation will not accept Cultural Protocol updates which introduce, on a significant scale, cultures which are likely to be insufficiently accessible to players. In particular, for all significant cultures in Particracy, it should be easy for players to access and use online resources to assist with language translation and the generation of character names. Moderation reserves the right to amend Cultural Protocols which are deemed to have introduced significant cultures that are not sufficiently accessible and which are not being actively role-played with.
