Bill: Act 29144-T119

Details

Submitted by[?]: Confederacy of Social Darwinists

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2548

Description[?]:

What good does it do to attempt to teach the very dregs or our society? What right does the Zardugali government have to finance programs for individuals who simply cannot learn from a prison sentence that there actions will have consequences if they choose to break the law and threaten the well being of Zardugal. Further, all we do when we spend money on teaching convicts we take away money that might better be spend on education, defense, etc.

MessageCompletely concur. In the League, it would also be far more economical to either take the prisoners and make them serve as forced labor (or slaves, or gladiators of some sort) or simply expand the death penalty to cover almost all crimes. Such measures would slice into the crime rate and avoid the financial problems of dumping money into the worthless hole of the penal system.

MessageThat is possible as well.
But it would probably be unwise to trust our nation's security to felons. They're supposed to be being punished, not given positions of authority.
