Bill: Homosexuality in the Military
Details
Submitted by[?]: People's Radical Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 2549
Description[?]:
The Bill as proposed is not an attempt to criminalise homosexuality by stealth. Rather, it is a reflection that the military, as a sector of society that must be able to work together under extreme pressure regardless of individual attitudes and beliefs, is not the place to practice social engineering. The PRP, therefore, contends that homosexuals may, if they wish, serve in the military, as all who are willing and able may do. Open profession of this orientation, however, is an unwarranted distraction: |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Military stance on homosexuality.
Old value:: Homosexuality is allowed in the military.
Current: Homosexuality is allowed in the military.
Proposed: Open homosexuality is not tolerated in the military. The military has a "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

Message | The CRP has no objection to homosexuality, but feels that soldiers openly declaring their attractions towards each other is detrimental to our military and will therefore back this Bill for reasons similar to those we would use to justify segregation of units by sex. |
