Bill: National Service
Details
Submitted by[?]: Conservative Republican Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2549
Description[?]:
Not everyone is suited to military service and we don't really need such a huge number of people in the armed forces (not unless we get involved in any major wars, anyway). The CRP therefore proposes that we offer civilian service as an alternative to a period in the military. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change National service.
Old value:: All adults upon completion of schooling must serve a term in the military.
Current: All adults upon completion of schooling must serve a term in the military.
Proposed: All adults upon completion of schooling must serve either a term in the military or a lesser paid term of civilian national service, at their option.

Message | How about there is no mandatory Military or National service. AT all |
Date | 03:11:29, March 21, 2008 CET | From | People's Radical Party | To | Debating the National Service |
Message | We would support the CRP proposal (although we have always been under the impression that the military service creates a reserve force, rather than an active military), as we recognise the necessity to let those unsuited to the armed forces find another way of serving their country. We would not, however, support the alternative proposed by the UDH, as we believe that all adults should play a role in maintaining the freedom of our great nation. |

Message | Why? I can, perhaps, understand making immigrants serve, but those born here did not choose to be born here. Why should they be forced to serve? |
Date | 11:48:36, March 21, 2008 CET | From | Republican Coalition | To | Debating the National Service |
Message | Freedom as a great nation? The only threats we have come across in the entire time of Hulstria's history has been from ourselves. The Dovani for Dovania (sp) treaty protects us from all out neighbours We don't NEED this. |
