Bill: Sectarian Security Prevent Act of 2550
Details
Submitted by[?]: Federal Republican Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2551
Description[?]:
Respectfully, The Federal Republican Party asks for the endorsements of our fellow colleagues in this new direction in our policies in regards to matters of faith. It is the F.R.P's belief that the pious citizens should be left to their own devices in their faiths. It is our job to protect this beautiful freedom. . . Article One goes against the grain of even the F.R.P. however, what this does is enable us to monitor potential radical extremists from entering into our nation and spreading messages of hate and bigotry. Article Two, Solentians follow many faiths, some follow none. To allow all religious entire freedom from not only taxes but, no rules on what they advertise-well, this simply doesn't add up. It is within doctrine of most recognized religions that it is the duty of the members of whatever faith spread the gospel through their testimony. Article Three much like Article One goes entirely against our federalist views of governance however; in the long-term this will help prevent sectarian rifts, religious schools spreading messages of hate and bigotry and other radical notions. Do you want a bunch of Wiccans to hold drum-rallys in the middle of your home-town and setup a camp-site to be at one with nature? I doubt you or our citizens do. Article Four: It is not the governments job to dictate policies such as this. If schools wish to have prayer in class or prior-to or afterward let it be addressed at the school-board meetings locally. This is no matter to us to quarrel over; allow schools to make their own decisions and allow children the freedom to pray within school! |

Message | Respectfully, You have our full support on Articles 1, 2, and 3. Article 4, however, is a bit of a stretch for us. As you are aware, the current law was our creation. We are against any teacher-led prayer in any schools. We do not believe that students should be forced to take part in the process, or to be caught up in the middle of it. HOWEVER, we strongly support the other three articles of this legislation... and in the spirit of bipartisanship, we will vote yes on this legislation. In the future, we may move to change Article 4. Message | A reasonable bill. |

Message | The NZP has heard all of your arguements for each article and we support them all, although we would like some clarification over article 4, seeing as Schools are governmental institutions wouldnt having school supported prayers be a violation of church and state, also would the prayers be non-demoninational or would it be a specific religion? |

Message | We have pondered this issue for some time now and have come to the conclusion that this legislation is adequate. While we would prefer that there be NO teacher-led prayer in schools, we must aknowledge that as long as the decision is left to the individual schools, the situation should work itself out. Only highly-religious schools having no problem with open prayer would dare let teachers engage in such behavior... Ultimately, we can deal with that article. |
