Bill: Freedom to Wed
Details
Submitted by[?]: AM Radical Libertarian Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2111
Description[?]:
WHEREAS it is obvious that there are legal, social, and psychological benefits to having legal recognition of the union of persons, no matter what the gender, AND it is the position of the Radical Libertarian Party that discrimination on the basis of gender preference is not appropiate by the government of a freedom loving nation such as ours; THEREFORE We propose that the benifits of civil matrimony be available to all citizens of legal age. This in no way compels religious organizations to participate in or even to recognize these unions, in so far as they may conflict with the beliefs of that body. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government policy toward marriage.
Old value:: The government only recognises civil marriages between a man and a woman.
Current: The government allows all consenting adults to obtain civil marriage contracts.
Proposed: The government allows all consenting adults to obtain civil marriage contracts.

While I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman, I realize that others, equally honest and upright, hold differing viewpoints. This bill, once passed, will give equal credence to the views of all citizens in this land" |
