Bill: Lowering the Sales Tax
Details
Submitted by[?]: Primo Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 2552
Description[?]:
The Sales Tax right now is 9%. The Primo Party would like to see that figure decreased by 2% to 7%. Given the huge surplus that our Nation's Government is currently running, it is in the interest of the Nation's Political Parties to put more money into the hands of our citizens. |

Message | The current Gov't Surplus is 155,377,962,794 ZAR. We are making money hand over fist, while our constituents struggle with a 9% tax on purchases. While our poor are taxed at a low rate, they are still burdened by this taxation. We propose immediate relief, using some of the surplus in the budget towards the decrease of the sales tax to 7%. |

Message | I would like to see us increase our science and technology spending back to the levels we experienced 2 years ago. If we return our spending to that level a cut in the sales tax may not be necessary. |

Message | Freedom Party, I would support a separate bill for just that, would you present a resolution on the issue. |

Message | I have done so. I support your amendment to lower the sales burden on our people and perhaps draw tourists to our nation. |

Random fact: By default the head of government is the ultimate authority within a national government. In general terms, heads of government are expected to consult with cabinet colleagues (including those from other parties) before making significant decisions but they remain responsible for government action. |
