| We believe in a responsible policy towards both the education and welfare of our nation's children. Unfortunately, we feel that the current governmental policy in place towards adoption in irresponsible. We advocate that only couples should be allowed to adopt, in order to avoid the potential hardships and risks of being adopted into single-parent families. We believe this because: -63% of suicides are individuals from single parent families -75% of teenage pregnancies are adolescents from single parent homes -More than one half of all youths incarcerated for criminal acts lived in one-parent families when they were children. -75% of children/adolescents in chemical dependency hospitals are from single-parent families. While we are by no means suggesting these statistics are universal and apply to all single-parent families, we wish to develop a culture of encouraging a traditional nuclear family. We obviously have no say in regulating the procreation of our citizens, to test whether they are a committed couple before giving birth, but we can regulate adoption rights.
