Bill: Flag Proposal

Details

Submitted by[?]: National Zeus Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2553

Description[?]:

The Ingram Party feels that The Federal Republic of Solentia is in need of a new more updated flag, while we have the greatest respect for the current flag and its vibrant red and green, we feel it needed a change to bring a fresh breath to Solentia and to better represent the country with a more unique symbol. I will leave this bill up for debate until March 2553, i am very interested in your opinions.

MessageYou have the full support of the Solentian Populist Party. A new flag is one less thing to remind us of the pagan ways of old.

MessageI believe this new flag is a magnificent piece of art and represents our nation much better than the old standard. If this legislation passes we will have a fitting ceremony to 'retire' the old flag and introduce the new.

Message"Pagan ways of old?" The current flag was designed specifically not to appeal to any religious group while retaining the colours of the previous flag. The black eagle, however is a throwback to the old Nuncirist flags of the past, which makes me wonder just who these Populists are, and who their supporters are.

As a proud member of the Solentian Orthodox Church, and a 3rd generation RadNat you offend me sir.

MessageTo Paulinus Keshka:

We assure you sir that the Black Eagle is in no way shape or form a throwback to any nuncirist symbol, and the fact that you would question the character of our supporters offends us. The color black is a combination of ALL colors, and the Eagle is our nations national animal. We made the eagle black as a statement to say that it is all our differences in viewpoint, religion, and race that make us a great nation and to instill national pride. If we have offended you in anyway we sincerly apologize for your SEVERE misinterpretation of our intentions.

MessageThe Solentian Populist Party, albeit apparently evil for supporting change regarding ANYTHING, could not agree more with the Ingram Party on this issue.

However, we have confidence in the S.R.N.P.'s pledge that the flag will not change. We are sure that the "coalition" will do everything in its power to prevent this from happening.

MessageYou have no reason to question who "these populists" are. We are not new to this government. We are an established, respected party with a new name.

We apologize for offending you, sir, but we stand by our position that the ways of old are not in the best interest of Solentians.

Respectfully,
Steven Lennox, S.P.P. Chairman

MessageI respect the past but i do not have to live in it do I? I feel the current flag, that i have grown up with and loved as a child may i remind you, no longer does justice to our nation, we need a more unique and memorable symbol to lead us into the future.

Graciously,
Matthew Ingram

MessageOOC: This is really unbelievable guys and gals. It's just a flag....I don't think any insult was intended to anyone here who made it. And heaven forbid that you take offense to Ingram "stepping on tradition" com'on-play a little nicer especially on such trivial issues...my god. I like the old flag, I like the new flag. Does that mean my vote here will get bricks thrown at me? I mean seriously, I think we -all- need to take a few deep breaths and step away from the PC for awhile and just chill out.

MessageOOC: Why should we step aside while you all make change for changes sake... We worked passionately long ago, REAL work, to establish a nation that was unique and Solentia was born as a creation of our joint efforts. Now new parties emerge, attempting to change it all, throw our work out, seemingly just for the pure joy of annoying us. These may seem trivial issues to you, but the IC history and believability of Solentia is of the UTMOST importance to us.

MessageOOC: Oh no, the elections are perfectly fair. Just don't be upset when we regain the power we need and reverse your changes to our work.

Date16:21:57, March 29, 2008 CET
From Autonomist Party of Solentia
ToDebating the Flag Proposal
MessageOOC: Sorry, my changes had nothing to do with any other party. I tried to push them because I'm playing the game. I could have fun with this game completely by myself, I don't need to annoy other parties to have fun, that is apparently a byproduct. I chose before I ever picked a country how I wanted to run my party and what types of changes I wanted to make, when I chose Solentia I got a little lucky that this countries moral fiber is in line with how I wanted to play. AWESOME. So when you say things like I'm vote mongering or trying to do things against the people you are wrong, I'm going by popular polls, historic trends, and my own parties agenda. Sorry we ruined your tea party, if you want a country other people can't have fun in make a donation and get a private one.
