MessageCurrently we have a surplus. We propose spending it on bettering national security and on giving the Maharaja enough resources to run an effective ministry.

MessageWe agree, perhaps tax cuts are in order as well. We have dramatically reduced the state bureaucracy and it should now cost tax payers much less.
OOC: did taxes or funding change under the communists or were their services magically funded?

MessageOOC: There was trouble before the communists, actually. We had a few parties who thought that deficits were good for the economy. I attempted to explain to them that they were confusing surpluses and deficits to no avail... Not that large surpluses are good of course, but their lack of logic frustrated me.

MessageOOC: Deficits are good for an economy if used correctly. Likwise a surplus, but it depends whether you want growth or not. A surplus will shrink an economy, a deficit will grow it. At least, that's basic Keynesian theory.
