Bill: Anarch Anakrousite Reform Bill - Housing the Poor
Details
Submitted by[?]: Commonwealth Workers Army
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2112
Description[?]:
While the AAP feels it extremely important, vital even, to house our least fortunate citizens, we think there may be better ways of doing it, than the government being the sole provider of housing. The AAP would like to open the market up a little, and allow special government appointed private companies to provide the housing - under the strict watchful eye of the Likatonian government, of course. As it is, our government tenders out construction anyway, so the only real difference overall would be that some other agency would coordinate this cumbersome issue - while still remaining answerable to a higher power. |

Article 1

Old value:: The state provides public housing to low-income families.

Message | No, we do not trust private companies to deal responsibly with this matter. If we hand over to private companies all we will see is the construction of cheap high rise flats. We prefer the current system which ensures public housing as facilities such as a garden and a ground floor, that is firmly on the ground. |

Message | The AAP wishes to make a couple of points. 1) The Likatonian government maintains regulatory control. If the Likatonian government wants highrise flats, we will see highrise flats. If the Likatonian government wants to see cute flowery bungalows, we will see cute flowery bungalows. 2) The AAP believes that space is at a premium in our modern nation. Perhaps we would rather not face it, but sometimes these 'projects' of multiple-family-accomodation are vital to local economies, and societies. 3) There are so many homeless, right now... the AAP can't see any justification for denying possible accomodation just because of a perceived dislike for 'highrise flats'. |

Message | We oppose under the justification that though the LPE supports freedom in the property market, we do not want to see a decrease in the levels of help being provided to homeless families, which would undoubtedly come hand in hand with privatisation. If this is not intended to be the case this is not made clear in the wording. |
