Bill: Anarch Anakrousite Reform Bill - Refugee Aid
Details
Submitted by[?]: Commonwealth Workers Army
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2112
Description[?]:
The Anarch Anakrousite party feels that our current policy toward refugess is both cold and unfair. We are placing the burden of proof on those that suffer most. How does a fleeing citizen PROVE that they are victims of some 'special circumstance'? Often, these refugees arrive at the Likatonian border with the clothes on their backs, and little else. We realise that some members of the Likatonian govenment might feel that a more welcome policy is 'a soft touch' option, or excessively expensive... but the AAP believes it is hard to place a monetary value on human lives. The AAP suggestion is to allow all victims of hardships to cross our borders and gain 'legal refugee' status. We do not believe it is necessary to give ADDITIONAL aid to those refugees... as we believe that this is a responsibility better served by the integrating communities. We suggest that LEGAL refugees be allow to access the same 'aid' packages as citizens - rather than provide additional 'aid' funding specific to refugees. |

Message | The AAP hopes that our alliezs overseas are as understanding, as their nations are torn by civil wars, famines and natural disasters. After all, it is only a year since that legislation passed, right....? |

Message | I think I missed some of these issues being proposed, or else we are voting really quicklly - I've not seen this bill, but the LPE will support it as a step in the right direction, despite being also in favour of giving a small amount of aid to those who arrive in our country with nothing, having been driven out of their homes. |
Date | 01:01:57, September 16, 2005 CET | From | Commonwealth Workers Army | To | Debating the Anarch Anakrousite Reform Bill - Refugee Aid |
Message | Response to the LPE: If you check the dates, you'll see that the AAP just pushes some issues to the vote more quickly than others. Sometimes, there seems little reward for awaiting further debate. The AAP is open to considering a reform package that the LPE may suggest on this issue, after this reform is concluded. |

Random fact: Players have a responsibility to differentiate between OOC (out-of-character) and IC (in-character) behaviour, and to make clear when they are communicating in OOC or IC terms. Since Particracy is a role-playing game, IC excesses are generally fine, but OOC attacks are not. However, players must not presume this convention permits them to harass a player with IC remarks that have a clear OOC context. |
