Bill: Alcoholic Beverage Liberalization Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Democratic Rationalists (PrCoa)
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 2555
Description[?]:
This sort of nanny-state legislation is unnecessary. Parents are perfectly capable of making the decision of whether or not to let their kids drink. If junior goes out and has a few, comes home with booze on his breath, mom and dad should discipline him accordingly. In fact, the prohibition of liquor to minors creates a "forbidden fruit" mentality. Youth show their independence and rebelliousness by drinking. When they do so, they do so outside of adult supervision, and they do so to excess. Prohibiting alcohol to the young is actually counterproductive. There's no need for state interference here. |
