Bill: Self-determination rights act

Details

Submitted by[?]: General Confederation of Labour

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 2556

Description[?]:

We, the People's Confederal Army, want the Likatonian Government to recognise the self-determination rights of the different prefectures. If a 50% is obtained in a LOCAL government by a nationalist party they will be able to claim their independence from the Likatonian State to form an independent state or to join another nation.

Get with the times, we don't support Greater Likatonia - only your coalition partners the GLNF do.

Yeh, well it won't work anyway.

MessageCLP are right - id this were to exist, it would be amending the constitution, and constitutional amendments require a 2/3 majority.

MessageWe appreciate that that Bill relates to Meria exclusively; we merely raised to indicate precedent and form, to help you draft a more comprehensive Bill; as it is, the Bill you propose is too simplistic and unworkable; it doesn't give details of why, how, if or when such a seccession should occur, it makes no allowance for alliances, it gives no roomfor debate, it doesn't explain potential re-unification processes, there are more holes than Kalistani cheese.

We would argue that for devolution, one election isn't enough, and that it should be declared prior to a vote.

for example, the GLNF are a nationalist party. What if we were to agree with the CLP that devolution is where we want to go?

Right now, we (collectively) hold >50% in all 5 prefectures...does that mean if we support this Bill we have the option of breaking Likatonia into five seperate nations?

Random fact: Cultural Protocol bills must provide a real-life equivalent or short description for the ethnic groups, languages and religions contained in them, such that it would be easy for an unfamiliar player to understand (e.g. "Dundorfian = German"). Where appropriate, they should also provide guidance to players on where to find help with translations and character names. This might include, for example, links to Google Translate, Behind the Name's Random Name Generator and Fantasy Name Generators.

Random quote: “Can anyone imagine a more perverse idea than forcing faithful Hosians like me to give away my money to enable irresponsible teenage girls to kill off their children because they were too drunk to use a damn condom?" - Dr. Francesca dos Santos, former Dranian politician
