Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The lyrics of the national anthem.
Old value:: When Oalapo first at Heaven's command Arose from out the emerald main Arose, arose, arose from out the emerald main This was the charter, The charter of the land, And guardian angels sung this strain: Refrain: Rule Luthori, Luthori rule the waves, Luthorians never never never shall be slaves. The nations, not so blest as thee, Must, in their turns, to tyrants fall: Must in, must in, must in their turns to tyrants fall. While thou shalt flourish, Shalt flourish great and free, The dread and envy of them all. (Refrain) Still more majestic shalt thou rise, More dreadful, from each foreign stroke: More dreadful, dreadful, dreadful from each foreign stroke. As the loud blast, The blast that tears the skies, Serves but to root thy native oak. (Refrain) Thee haughty tyrants ne'er shall tame: All their attempts to bend thee down, All their, all their, all their attempts to bend thee down Will but arouse thy, Arouse thy generous flame; But work their woe, and thy renown. (Refrain) To thee belongs the rural reign; Thy cities shall with commerce shine: Thy cities, cities, cities shall with commerce shine All thine shall be the, Shall be the subject main, And every shore it circles thine. (Refrain) The Muses, still with freedom found, Shall to thy happy coast repair: Shall to, shall to, shall to thy happy coast repair Blest land! with matchless, With matchless beauty crown'd, And manly hearts to guard the fair. (Refrain)

And was the holy Lamb of God On Luthori's pleasant pastures seen? And did the countenance divine Shine forth upon our clouded hills? And was Yishelem builded here Among those dark satanic mills? Bring me my bow of burning gold! Bring me my arrows of desire! Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold! Bring me my chariot of fire! I will not cease from mental fight, Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand, Till we have built Yishelem In Luthori's green and pleasant land. |

Message | Mr Speaker, This hymn is quite long as it stands, so I plan to keep the Bill in debate so that the committee can discuss whether to remove or modify any of the versus, if it has enough support at all. |

Message | Mr Speaker, These are the versus that have already been removed at the time of drafting: God save our Holy King, Long live our Emperor, God save the King: Send him victorious, Happy and glorious, Long to reign over us: God save the King. Thy choicest gifts in store, On him be pleased to pour; Long may she reign: May she defend our laws, And ever give us cause With heart and voice to sing God save the King. Lord, grant that Marshal Wade, May by thy mighty aid, Victory bring. May he sedition hush and like a torrent rush, Rebellious taigs to crush, God save the King. One realm of races four Blest more and ever more God save our land! Home of the brave and free Set by the silver sea True nurse of chivalry God save our land! Of many a race and birth From utmost ends of earth God save us all! Bid strife and hatred cease Bid hope and joy increase Spread universal peace God save us all! |

Message | Mr Speaker, After a review of Terran national anthems it appears that some of these verses are already being used, by the United Republics of Saridan, oddly enough considering the wording. Furthermore, it would appear that a version of "And did those feet in ancient time", about Jerusalem, is already the national anthem of the Aldurian Republic Empire, and "Land of Hope and Glory", formerly a Luthori anthem, is being used by the Republic of Telamon. We have therefore altered our proposal as a rewording of our current anthem. The original proposal appears below for the record: O Lord, our monarch bless With strength and righteousness: Long may he reign: His heart inspire and move With wisdom from above; And in a nation's love His throne maintain O Lord, our God, arise, Scatter his enemies, And make them fall. Confound their politics, Frustrate their knavish tricks, On Thee our hopes we fix, God save us all. Our loved Dominions bless With peace and happiness From shore to shore; And let our Empire be Loyal, united, free True to himself and Thee God save the King. God bless our native land! May heaven's protecting hand Still guard our shore: May peace her power extend, Foe be transformed to friend, And Luthori rights depend On war no more. May just and righteous laws Uphold the public cause, And bless our land: Home of the brave and free, Thou land of liberty, We pray that still on thee Kind heaven may smile. Nor on this land alone, But be God's mercies known From shore to shore: Lord make the nations see That men should brothers be, And form one family The wide world o'er |
