Message | Whoa, now you're putting up essential goods tax, though? We cannot favor this - we apologize, but we cannot take part in raping the poor of what little money they have when buying the necessities for life. |

Message | The tax, before the bill that you let through took effect, was 4% and the luxury tax was 11%. You said that you would support a bill to reverse those measures (as you forgot to vote against them); this bill keeps the luxury tax at the higher level while keeping the essential rate lower than it was originally. If there is a good-sized surplus after this bill is passed, then we'll bring down the essential rate. Don't behave as though this is a surprise to you -- you opposed their bill and said you would support its repeal. This bill leaves the tax at a rate lower than it was before. We demand that you honor your agreement with us to support this bill. |

Message | Goddamnit, you tie our hands. We demand that *you* honor your side then in bringing down the rate, and as well we urge you to stop at nothing to cut spending so that the essential tax can be lifted. We beg the forgiveness of all the poor in the Respublica Dranii who will starve to death after this goes through. |

Message | Eliminating corporation tax and being deficit-free will mean more business confidence, more jobs and growth, and ultimately fewer poor people. You seem to be wavering a little in your commitment to free markets and libertarianism; hopefully you aren't about to jump the philosophical fence and rename yourselves the 'People's Social Democrats' or some such guff. The policies that socialists claim are meant to help the poor will in the long run harm them as the high taxes and debt stifle growth and mean, in the long run, fewer jobs and more people in poverty. Hopefully you aren't converting to this misguided way. As the economy grows and spending is re-allocated and prioritized, the surplus will increase and taxes on essential goods can be cut. It may be a while before this can happen (we can't cut it to 2.75% or 2.5%, and 1% worth of sales tax is a lot of money), but we will do it. |

Message | When I was a boy I worked two jobs while getting myself through school. Regardless of the confidence of the business and jobs and growth, I was dirt poor and could barely make rent on a monthly basis. Now, I've agreed all along with eliminating corporate tax. But I wholeheartedly believe in zero taxes at all. Interaction between the economic populace and corporations, and corporations and the government can allow all the funding the government needs for the incredible few things we feel the government needs to do; that is, ensure that the state survives to keep laws unrestricted and uphold a military. The deficit should be removed by cutting the worthless spending our government is taking part of, not by picking the pockets of college kids like I was who don't know if they'll be homeless the next month, regardless of corporate confidence. So tight was my budget in those days that adding three percent tax absolutely would have left me homeless, sleeping in break rooms at my jobs and hoping my supervisors wouldn't catch me. |
