Details

Submitted by[?]: Radical Party

Status[?]: passed

Voting deadline: February 2558

Description[?]:

The Radical Party propose to adjust the government's income tax policy to better address the economic situation of the Republic of Telamon. This bill is aimed at lower the overall burden of taxation on the ordinary tax payer, while passing the load onto the extremely affluent.

This will coincide with several budgetary amendations, to correct several key over-funded areas of governmental responsibility.

MessageI don't see how this passes most of the burden onto the affluent. The tax on luxury goods alone won't accomplish this. Targeting the affluent with an actual tax bracket, and tax rate, as done in the past will achieve that goal.

MessageWe are willing to support a revised version of this bill that includes a tax bracket that is specifically aimed at the affluent. It should not be a high tax rate but it should help defer costs and keep the luxury tax low.

In theory we find this bill agreeable.

MessageI refuse to compromise a flat income. Again, the vast majority should not be punished with punitive tax brackets. Tax should be opt-in (with high taxation on luxury), rather than opt-out (with tax brackets on the wealthy). The positives of society, such as amassing high income, should not be discouraged with negative taxation on income. Instead, those that can afford luxury, but opt into it, should have the weight of a popular conscience based on their consumerism.

This is benefitial to all, and is, in purest essence, more equitable.

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election.
