Description[?]:
Esteemed Senators of the Empire. Honourable men, and virtuous women, of Aldurian blood, and Aldurian faith. In May, I said that this war would have been over at Christmas. That the brave men and women who are shedding their blood for the sake of the Luthori people and for the sake of William III, our noble ally and friend, would have been home with us at now. That Alduria would have been a nation at peace. Today I stand before you, ashamed of my optimism at that moment. Today I stand before you, with the insight that this war will be a protracted war, against insiduous enemies which like vultures are gathering around the Luthori, trying to take snatch-pieces of their land and institute their own foreign laws upon the people of that nation. We are obliged, by the Imperial Bloodline, by our faith and our honour, to continue defending the Luthori, from the Wolf Legion and from their foreign allies. I cannot ask you to sacrifice more. All families in Alduria right now are bleeding for the principles that our people believes in. I would be a hypocrite if I said that you are not doing enough. All I can assure you, is that we are all bleeding. This is not a war of the elites where ordinary legionnaries are dying on the battlefield, but a national struggle. Already, we have suffered 75.000 dead legionnaries, and around a 100.000 wounded. Our army is growing each day, replacements are going in. Our weapons are modernised. Our tactics improved. Nearly every battle has been victorious. But behind every number, there is a living being. A living, breathing being, with dreams, prospects, and a future. I did not want this war. It was forced upon us. My fellow citizens and citizennes, I would tell you, that I too has suffered this close. My son is dead. http://www.takeforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=177972&mforum=particracy#177972 He died for Luthori. He died for Alduria. He died for our way of life. Like 75.000 other Aldurians. What I would like to see, is that this chamber supports increased war taxes in order for the Imperial Government to mobilise 15 more legions the next year, as well as replacements for current material losses. I stand together with you today, not as a politician, not as a philosopher, but as a grieving father. It is our duty to prevail, and finish this war. |
