| This bill will increase the period in which a mother may undergo an abortion. Abortion will be legal up to 20 weeks from conception. Abortion will also be allowed in all cases if the mother's life would be at risk otherwise. |

| Message | Even using that article, the edge of viability is 22-25 weeks. The second trimester doesn't end until the 28th week, thusly a child can be born mid-second trimester and still survive. It is through this argument that we cannot vote for this bill, however a modification to the existing legislature to include abortion if Medically required would be acceptable. |

Though we agree with UCT that anti-conception is what must be promoted, I still think abortion must be left open as a means of last resort, and this in both the first and second trimester. Better that than raising in poority and giving naught but misery to the child. |

| Message | 1 month = 4 weeks. Therefore the second trimester ends 3*2*4 = 24 weeks after conception. This is before the highest value of the edge of viability. Would it be better if I added a phrase to the description saying that the limit is 20 weeks? This gives the mother more time yet is still before the edge of viability. |
