Bill: COM Enact Telamon-Likatonia Non Aggression Pact

Details

Submitted by[?]: Conservative Ordo Malleus (COM)

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 2565

Description[?]:

The threat of invasion by Likatonia against Lodamun and Telamon has faded. We ask the Foreign Minister to move the Telamon-Likatonia Non Aggression Pact for ratification and to pursue a similar pact with Lodamun. We officially have a defense treaty with Lodamun, which needs to be updated. That will be the next step if this pact is ratified.

MessageWe ask that Parliament call on the Prime Minister and President to have Foreign Minister Kennedy call for the ratification of the Telamon-Likatonia Non Aggression Pact (http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewtreaty.php?treatyid=961).

This bill is only to support the Foreign Minister bringing the pact up for ratification. A YES vote is to allow discussion of ratification of Telamon-Likatonia Non Aggression Pact. A NO vote will prevent discussion.

It is possible to vote YES on this bill and then vote NO for ratification (a separate bill).

MessageI must say, they are a greater threat to us than we are to them. But we must not cowardly flee from the scene of history. Likatonia is a pro-aggressive and pro-occupating country.

MessageLikatonia has stated they have no desire to engage in hostilities with Telamon and wish to declare mutual friendship with Telamon. The only reason conveyed as to why Likatonia hasn't ratified this treaty, before, is because Telamon never ratified it.

I realize that the RRP has been against friendship with Likatonia for quite some time. However, where is the justification for that? It is true Likatonia threatened Telamon far in our past. But, that is nothing more than history. They know it is not fruitful to fight with their neighbors. They are signing a peace treaty with Lodamun. If that is not proof of their desire to live peacefully with their neighbors then what is?

We are not bound by any alliance or treaty to hate Likatonia. They have not harmed us or anyone we're bound to protect. There is no reason to avoid discussing the treaty.

ALL that this bill asks for is the Foreign Minister putting the Telamon-Likatonia Non Aggression Pact before Parliament for ratification. That will be the proper time for us to discuss the merits of the pact. What does any party have to lose by talking about the pact in the proper time?

If you are against the pact then vote YES on this bill and NO on the ratification bill. But, we ask that all remain open-minded on the issue. For almost six decades my party has been an advocate of isolationism. Now we wish to engage in limited diplomacy and are rebuked by some we have called friends.

Talk costs us nothing and gives many rewards.

MessageYou didn't see the horrors of Likatonian bombers bombing the Lodamun citizens. (in the first war) I was there. And now, they again tried to make a Greater Likatonia. We will not let this happen. They have to be observed for 100 more years, and then, we can talk about friendship. And I don't hear pleasant words about them from my colleague, the President of Lodamun. Mr Raxney, you are my true and long-time friend. But, we don't agree in this topic.

MessageThe Mutual Defense Pact between our nations is more than a defense treaty, it is a friendship treaty. I can assure you Likatonia does not want friendship, don't make the same mistake we did years ago. They have broken their promises many times and have committed crimes you could never imagine. I definately don't want to see one of our allies attacked or in any way harmed by Likatonia. They do not deserve your friendship. I hope you reconsider your stance on this matter and listen to our good friend, the Chairman of the RRP.
