Bill: Civilian-based defence
Details
Submitted by[?]: Cooperative Commonwealth Federation
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2113
Description[?]:
The defence of Lodamun is the responsibiltyi of Lodamun's people. The best deterrent is a population that is committed to the defence of its homeland. This bill substitutes for the nuclear arsenal, a citizenry able to defend their own homes. All citizens will be given military training in guerrilla warfare or social defence (abolishing military forces and relying in their stead on nonviolent struggles by the general population), according to their choice. It will be impossible for any foreign power to occupy Lodamun, as they will know that controlling the population and the territory is impossible. |

Message | With the removal of article 2, it simply becomes a nuclear disarmament bill, which is certain to fail. This is an attempt to to offer an alternative non-nuclear defence strategy, but it's not one that is possible without training in social defence being offered to all people. The training is, please note, military OR civilian and directed towards non-violent means of resistance. But civilian-based defence is impossible if no training is given to civilains in how to conduct it. |

Message | "With the removal of article 2, it simply becomes a nuclear disarmament bill, which is certain to fail." This is certain to fail as well. "This is an attempt to to offer an alternative non-nuclear defence strategy, but it's not one that is possible without training in social defence being offered to all people." Don't you mean ordered to all people? "The training is, please note, military OR civilian and directed towards non-violent means of resistance." I'll just counter that with this: "All citizens will be given military training in guerrilla warfare and social defence" Please change the wording to "guerrilla warfare or social defence based on their decision" and I'll consider it. |

Random fact: It is not allowed to call more than 5 elections in 5 game years in a nation. The default sanction for a player persisting in the early election tactic will be a seat reset. |
Random quote: "The answer to global warming is in the abolition of private property and production for human need. A socialist world would place an enormous priority on alternative energy sources. This is what ecologically-minded socialists have been exploring for quite some time now." - Louis Proyect |
