Bill: Ban the death penalty.
Details
Submitted by[?]: Liberal Party for Equality
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 2115
Description[?]:
In our opinion the death penalty is cruel and inhumane, as well as expensive, and puts across a poor national image. It is also impossible to reverse if a person is later proved innocent. For these reasons we suggest that the death penalty be totally banned, and all convicts who would have recieved this sentence be instead jailed for life. |

Message | Our system is not expensive as convicted felons are only allowed one appeal, not the numourous appeals that some nationas allow. Secondly we only executed serial murderers or rapists, therefore guilty means exactly that guilty. If a suspect is the main suspect in several murders, and they are proved guilty in each one, there is absolutely no chance of innocence. Therefore we are opposed to this bill. |
